Dianne Cunningham is the Director of the Lawrence Centre for Policy and Management at the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario. As the Director, Dianne is instrumental in bringing public policy issues to the forefront at the Business School and in building capacity within the public sector arena.
Dianne was a Member of the Provincial Parliament for the riding of London North. Dianne ran for the leadership of the Progressive Conservative Party in 1990 and was later appointed the party’s Deputy Leader. Following the June 1995 election, Dianne was appointed to the Cabinet as Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs with responsibility for Women’s Issues. Later she would assume the position as Minister of Colleges and Universities, a cabinet post where she still holds the longest tenure of any Minister in this portfolio.
Dianne became involved with politics in 1973 where she was elected a trustee of the London Board of Education. She served as a trustee on this Board for 15 years, including two terms as Chairperson. In April 1993, Dianne was given the Woman of Distinction Award by the London YM-YWCA for her involvement in the London community.
