Innovation in action
ONF's focus is neurotrauma – specifically how to make a difference in the lives of Ontarians living with an acquired brain injury (ABI) or spinal cord injury (SCI), and how to prevent these injuries from happening in the first place.
The work of ONF is focused on:
Neurotrauma injuries affect more than half a million Ontarians and their families. While research and the development of new knowledge is an essential activity, ONF is the key organization in this province committed to identify gaps in programs and activities. Through partnerships and collaborations ONF improves the quality of life for those living neurotrauma and the prevention of such injuries.
Impacting the lives of Ontario citizens
The work may start in the research lab of a partner, but it ends in the home or community where collaboratively developed guidelines and evidence-informed practices directly impact the life of people living with ABI or SCI.
The goal is to facilitate appropriate and timely access to a continuum of healthcare services.
ONF works with provincial, national and international partners to determine the key causes of neurotrauma and to support the development of interventions and policies that make a difference. To learn about the ONF approach to partnerships, click here.
