SCI Open Call Funding Announcement

ONF in partnership with the Rick Hansen Institute announced an open-call for funding in September 2015 in the areas of secondary complications, neurorecovery and long-term health, wellness and community participation. 15 proposals were submitted and we are happy to announce the 6 successful grant recipients: 

  • Enhancing Primary Care for SCI Consumers by Clinical Use of Videoconferencing ($149,490) - Dr. James Milligan, Center for Family Medicine, Kitchener, ON 

  • Preventing Falls One Step at a Time: Reactive Balance Trainingfor Spinal Cord Injury ($149,866) - Dr. Kristin Musselman, Toronto Rehabilitation Institute, University Health Network, Toronto, ON

  • Development and Implementation of a Clinical Decision Support System to Improve Outcomes Associated with Activity-Based Therapies ($146,840) - Dr. Dalton Wolfe, Lawson Health Sciences Center, London, ON 

  • Enhancing Recovery in Non-Traumatic Spinal Cord Injury: Implementation of an Integrated Program for the Assessment of Rehabilitation Therapies ($123,675) - Dr. Neil Duggal, London Health Sciences Center, London, ON

  • EEG-Triggered Functional Electrical Stimulation Therapy for Upper Limb Rehabilitation ($147,515) - Dr. César Márquez Chin, Toronto Rehabilitation Institute, University Health Network, Toronto, ON

  • Nerve Transfers in Tetraplegia: A Multi-Centre, Multi-Disciplinary Pilot Study ($53,000) - Dr. Kirsty Boyd, Ottawa Hospital, Ottawa, ON
