ONF/RHI issue call for Letters of Intent

Ontario Neurotrauma Foundation in partnership with Rick Hansen Institute has announced new funding opportunities in area of Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) research focused on the recommendations from three summits: urohealth, neuropathic pain and pressure ulcers.

The summit recommendations are in the 2017 Winter edition of NeuroMatters, the Ontario Neurotrauma Foundation newsletter. 

The applications must be submitted by July 1, 2018.

Ontario budget allocates $6-million to support new post-collision Neurotrauma Care Pathways

With a $6-million commitment, the 2018 Ontario budget promises improved care for persons with sustained brain or spinal cord injuries resulting from a motor vehicle collision.

The Ontario government has allocated the funds to the Ontario Neurotrauma Foundation (ONF) and Spinal Cord Injury Ontario (SCI Ontario) to develop care pathways to better the health services and systems of care for those who experience spinal cord or traumatic brain injury following a collision.

Ground-breaking Rowan's Law passes third reading

Almost three years after a Coroner's report issued 49 recommendations, concussion safety legislation “Rowan’s Law” was passed March 6. It supports efforts to protect the health and well-being of amateur athletes by defining concussion guidelines surrounding school sports. “This is truly a landmark in Ontario legislation that will help to broaden the conversation around concussions and hopefully push the needle forward to advance the clinical guidelines and a standardized approach to care," says Kent Bassett-Spiers, Ontario Neurotrauma Foundation CEO and member of the Rowan's Law Expert Advisory Committee.

Two new ONF-RHI SCI grants announced

The Ontario Neurotrauma Foundation in partnership with Rick Hansen Institute has funded two new Team grants. These two-year grants provide researchers with $20,000 for each of the two years. Developed by the Ontario Spinal Cord Injury Network (OSCIRN) this grant initiative facilitate building teams focused spinal cord injury research and implementation project in Ontario.
