For the past five years our Prevention team has actively engaged fall prevention program and policy planners, researchers, front-line workers and caregivers on the online Community of Practice, Loop and since 2018, Loop Junior. The online bilingual platform allows for members to:
- Network: Find an expert, mentor or collaborator by searching members by area of expertise, location or name;
- Find answers: Harness the knowledge of Loop members to find answers to fall prevention questions quickly and efficiently;
- Work together: Use private groups, discussion posts, or direct messages to collaborate on projects with other members;
- Build knowledge: Access learning opportunities and evidence through webinars, e-newsletters, the Knowledge Centre and customized consultations with an expert Knowledge Broker.
The online platform has been a hub for professionals looking for knowledge exchange opportunities in childhood falls and falls across the lifespan. With over 1,200 members across both Loop and Loop Junior, the platforms have increased their usership by 10% over the last year despite limitations. The Annual Loop report provides a snapshot of Loop and Loop Junior’s members and their use on the platforms.
