WEBINAR: There’s Magic in the Mix
There’s Magic in the Mix: Combining OT & SLP in Community-based Interventions for Traumatic Brain Injury
A traumatic brain injury (TBI) can cause a myriad cognitive, emotional, and physical changes in an individual. Due to the complexity of these injuries, a coordinated, multidisciplinary approach to rehabilitation is necessary. However, implementing this kind of approach can be challenging for clinicians. Leslie Birkett (Occupational Therapist) and Deidre Sperry (Speech-Language Pathologist) are practicing clinicians who have spent their careers working collaboratively to develop and implement cross-discipline community-based interventions for TBI.
In this webinar, Leslie and Deidre share their insights and strategies on incorporating collaboration between SLPs and OTs into practice. The presentation addresses:
- Practical methods for developing rehabilitation programs that help clients to better deal with the demands and challenges of daily life
- How to develop collaborative, functionally-oriented, cognitive rehabilitation programs that target meaningful everyday activities
Leslie and Deidre draw upon their years of professional clinical experience and have based the content of the webinar around the INESSS-ONF Clinical Practice Guideline for the Rehabilitation of Moderate-to-Severe TBI.
