September 28, 2020
The last Wednesday of each September has been designated as Rowan’s Law Day in Ontario to help raise awareness about concussion safety. This year Sunnybrook Hospital is hosting a webinar with partners from Holland Bloorview and Parachute Canada to discuss concussion and mental health.
Panel Presentation: “Re-imagining Concussion Care in Youth: Considerations for complete care of the whole patient”
This panel will explore the complexities of concussion in a youth population focusing on the challenges of treating the injury holistically – brain, mind and body. The panel will also consider the challenge of pre-existing conditions (mental and physical) and best care pathways when they become a primary focus of recovery.

Living Guideline for Diagnosing and Managing Pediatric Concussion – Family Version

In alignment with the clinical practice version of the guideline, the family version offers a series of recommendations within three key sections and includes recommendations on mental health. Explore domain 8 to learn more about concussion and the impact of mental health.
Healthcare professionals are encouraged to share this resource with parents and caregivers as it promotes greater understanding of concussion care and management. With the help of the guideline, users will be able to better understand the implications of pediatric concussion.
Keep an eye out for a French version coming later this fall!
